chiffon summer frock with high-heeled sandals rockin’ comfy yoga pants with a scooped-neck
T-shirt and espadrilles. </span><span style="text-align: left;">Luckily, I have reached a happy comprise of wearing
the more casual clothing ensemble to run errands in and saving the summer
frocks for nights out with friends and family.</span></div><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left;">This summer, I have focused a lot of attention on purchasing
shoes and small crossbody purses. Back in April, I started ordering pastel-colored
sandals in lilacs and canary yellow to go along with the standard black and
beige ones that I order every year. It has added the essential pop of color to
my wardrobe. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left;">I top all this color goodness off with a coordinating cross-body purse. So far, I have purchased these in lilac, canary yellow, fire engine
red, beige, black, chocolate brown, and navy blue. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left;">For rainy day social outings, I steer away from flowing
frocks and focus my attention to a more stylishly sturdy clothing ensemble. Fitted capri pants thrown together with either
a tunic length halter, a one or off-the-shoulder top, and/or a frilly blouse
paired with open-toed backless mules in a coordinating color usually fit the
bill. <o:p></o:p></p>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6473137333507179521.post-18579826458891330882022-06-16T09:37:00.001-04:002022-06-16T18:02:31.610-04:00Food and Drink: Salad Plates<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

</div><br /><p><br /></p><p> </p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p>Salads provide us nourishment in many forms. There are the traditional salads filled with leafy
greens, tomatoes, onions, and sprinkles of cheese in various sizes and shapes.
Generally, they are featured as one of the opening courses or a side dish to
accompany an entrée. However, salads have way more to offer than standard
veggie goodness.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Adding beans, meats, and cooked pasta can take the
accompaniment element of salad into the entrée realm. The salad pictured
contains mixed greens, grilled chicken, garlic scapes, cherry tomatoes, shredded
mozzarella cheese, red onions, cilantro, and Baby Bella mushrooms.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">I served it with a side of baked breadsticks (sliced store-bought bistro bread). The thin and crispy texture calls for more of an oil-based
dipping sauce versus a marinara. For the dipping sauce, I used Extra Virgin
Olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and lime juice with basil and black pepper.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">One of the best things about this salad is its versatility.
You can add or subtract the ingredients as you see fit. The price of chicken
breasts (amongst other things) has shot up. Deli meat, and sliced breaded chicken tenders can
also add some yummy protein to the salad plate party. <o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal">I added a small ramekin of sliced strawberries as dessert.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Slicing ingredients into thinner pieces before placing them
into the salad can also help them to go a lot further. <o:p></o:p></p></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6473137333507179521.post-52402377400261462832022-06-08T19:12:00.000-04:002022-06-08T19:12:55.564-04:00Simple Luxuries: Patio Girl Summer<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

</div><p> </p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>There is a patio, rooftop deck, or another outdoor seating area which is beckoning me to sit down and take a load off. A simple menu that
offers refreshing drinks, light appetizers, and semi-reasonable prices. What to
wear for such an endeavor? My one-shoulder lavender dress with a hem that grazes
my ankles is paired with matching open-toed wedge sandals. I am limiting my
jewelry to mid-sized silver hoop earrings which are always a great summer
go-to.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Patio Girl Summer is not limited to an evening out with my
lady friends or even a cozy date night. My favorite time to occupy a patio is over the
lunch hour. Preferably, closer to 11:15 am because usually the café is not
packed full of other patrons. Also, the weather is still cool enough to enjoy
a hearty lunch with a chilled beverage sans sticking to your chair.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Lunchtime patio lounging can be great as a solo undertaking.
However, I always make an effort to limit my patio lounging time to no more
than 45 minutes. Especially, during a lunch rush. I am a generous tipper but, I also want the server to have the
chance to turn as many tables as they can during their shift.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The best patios to linger upon are located where we
ourselves live. Sometimes, we are not blessed with a deck or a patio from which
to linger. However, our friends or family may have a great outdoor space where
we can lounge. There are also picnic areas in parks or other outdoor spaces in
our respective communities which beckon for us to sit at them whilst enjoying a
delicious meal and a refreshing libation. <o:p></o:p></p>

I hit up a nearby thrift store for inexpensive furniture and then went to the local Walmart for Black Satin paint.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Black Satin paint gives off a patina of freshness without being too glossy. It gives even the most inexpensive particle board furniture a finished look of sophistication.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This year, I used Black Satin paint on my laptop desk, piano bench, and a small dresser for the guest room. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"> For this particular BLT outing, I brushed garlic oil with basil, thyme, and rosemary atop the olive bread to keep things interesting. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I opted for the pricier manchego cheese instead of Swiss and/or provolone. The sweetness of manchego cheese goes well with the rich taste of the olive bread. Thereby giving it a hearty yet exotic flavor. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Sauteed baby bella mushrooms, grape tomatoes, green onions, bacon, and red onions round out the sandwich ingredients. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I chose to bake this sandwich on a baking sheet with a rack for the ultimate crunchy texture.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">As for the lettuce aspect of this sandwich, I made the conscious choice to use it as a bed of sorts and throw the extra sauteed veggies on top.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Sliced up onions rings from my grocer's freezer are served on the side.
