Adventures In Spring Roll Making

This past Saturday, I headed to a nearby Asian market/restaurant Siam Oriental Market
(7930 Quivira Rd, Lenexa KS 66215) to buy rice paper and vermicelli.
I was craving spring rolls and finally felt brave enough to attempt them.

I dutifully prepared both the vermicelli and the rice paper per the package's instructions.

I made the first few  spring rolls using chopped cooked shrimp, red leaf lettuce, green onion, vermicelli, and cilantro.

The second batch, contained additional ingredients such as cheese, basil oil, and garlic seasoning.

I had some problems with wrapping the spring rolls. I either dunked the wrapper too long in the hot water or not long enough. I was also a little overzealous with the amount of ingredients wrapped per spring roll.

I opted to cut them in half and serve them that way. They looked much better on the plate and tasted yummy. I used a Korean BBQ sauce topped with green onions as a dip.
