During my college days, there were more than a few female classmates whom I clashed with and yet, I still had their backs. I can recall many situations in which I escorted these female nemeses back home safely after a night of hardcore partying.
On more than a few occasions, they returned the favor. The next time we saw one another, we exchanged a cursory node and mumbled words of thanks to one another. We stood up for another in the moment and didn't wait until something occurred to show belated support via social media.
We weren't afraid to call the cops or parents when things go out of hand. We called one another out and about our risky behavior. We weren't coming from a stance of judgment but, from a place of concern and basic human decency.
